The Role of Technology in Orthodontics
At our orthodontic clinics in Media and Wallingford, dental technology plays a significant role in nearly everything we do.
We use digital tools and technology to gain a detailed understanding of your orthodontic concerns. This helps us provide a clear and precise diagnosis, so we can create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. Our priority is to deliver the safest and most effective care for you.
Our technology also guides us in creating and modifying these treatment plans as needed throughout the process.
At every stage of your orthodontic journey, you'll see how we use our technology to communicate with you about your condition, the treatment plan, and progress.

Digital X-rays
Our orthodontists use digital X-rays, which are taken with digital sensors and a computer, to create detailed, high-quality internal images of your teeth and gums.
Digital X-rays allow your orthodontist to see beneath your gums, including your teeth, surrounding bones, and overall oral health. They also help detect issues such as tooth decay or previous dental procedures that may affect your treatment. This information is important for accurate diagnosis and planning your care.

Panoramic X-rays
Another form of technology often used is panoramic X-rays. This technology allows your orthodontist to capture a single two-dimensional image that shows all of your mouth's oral structures. This image includes the teeth, the upper and lower jaws, and the surrounding structures and tissues.
Panoramic X-rays are essential for evaluating the presence or absence of specific teeth and their roots, their shape and structure, their eruption sequence, and their relationship to other teeth in the jaws. This provides important information for treatment planning and evaluation.
iTero™ Intraoral Scanner
The iTero intraoral scanner is a handheld device that helps your orthodontist create detailed 3D images of your mouth's hard and soft tissues. The process is quick and comfortable: just open your mouth wide, and your orthodontist will gently move the device around to capture clear images. It only takes a few minutes, making the experience smooth and easy.
The system creates 3D models of the inside of your mouth and shows them instantly on a touchscreen, giving you a clear and immediate view.

Virtual Consultations
Enjoy the convenience of a virtual consultation from home. We’ll send you a link to get started. You’ll answer a few questions and upload photos of your smile for the orthodontist to review.
Once reviewed, our team will contact you with the next steps, discuss treatment possibilities, and outline available payment options. If you choose to move forward, we’ll schedule an in-office visit to continue your care.
If you decide to proceed with the treatment after receiving the recommendations, we'll schedule an in-office appointment to begin improving your smile.
